Relief Projects: Yogyakarta Projects for Earthquake Victims, May 2006

Location: Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
 
Name of developing country partner: MSC Mission Office, Indonesia.
 
Objectives: to provide relief and immediate assistance to the victims of the May 2006 5.9 Richter earthquake in Yogyakarta province in May 2006. the earthquake killed nearly 6000 people and destroyed approximately 300,000 homes.
 
Intended beneficiaries: The communities of approximately 24 villages in Yogyakarta Province.
 
Description of activities: MSC provided funding to the MSC Mission Office in Indonesia to provide toilets, sanitation and clean water systems to villages destroyed by the earthquake. The Mission Office in Indonesia surveyed the damage and the needs of each community and compiled individual applications for each village.
 
Project Review: Toilets and sanitation systems have been installed or upgraded in each village.
 
Budget: AUD$35,400.00
